Oscilloscope Laboratories Gets In Bed With The Brooklyn Brothers, Plays With Children’s Instruments / February 8th, 2012

New York, NY (February 8, 2012)—Oscilloscope Laboratories announced today that it has acquired all North American rights to THE BROOKLYN BROTHERS BEAT THE BEST, the debut feature from writer/director/star Ryan O’Nan, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and its US premiere last week at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.  The film will be released in theaters later this year.

TBBBTB follows underachiever Alex (O’Nan), recently dumped by his girlfriend, as he embarks on an impromptu road trip with his new bandmate, the eccentric Jim (Michael Weston).  By channeling their inner children and giving a new meaning to the term “lo-fi,” Alex and Jim find their unique style by bringing the sound of children’s instruments to their unexpecting fans.  Playing a series of bizarre shows and experiencing multiple near-disasters, Alex and Jim’s persistence takes them on a true coming-of-age journey – one that may be their last shot at achieving their childhood dreams.

TBBBTB will have a multi-city theatrical release accompanied by a number of live performances by The Brooklyn Brothers, the film-inspired band consisting of O’Nan and Weston.  A multi-platform digital and DVD release (as well as a soundtrack album released through Rhino) will follow.

Of the acquisition, O’Nan said, “I truly couldn’t be happier with Brooklyn Brothers finding its home with Oscilloscope.  I feel very lucky to have my film be with such a great team. O-Scope reminds me of my favorite record labels I grew up with in the music scene, the great indie labels I could always count on to sign interesting new bands and pour creativity into everything that surrounded the marketing and product as well.”

TBBBTB stars Ryan O’Nan, Michael Weston, and Arielle Kebbel, with Melissa Leo, Andrew McCarthy, Christopher McDonald, Jason Ritter, and Wilmer Valderrama.  It was produced by Jason Michael Berman and Kwesi Collisson and executive produced by Ruth Mutch, Sergio Agüero, Thomas B. Fore, Sandra R. Berman, and Mark G. Mathis.

The deal was negotiated by David Fenkel on behalf of Oscilloscope and International Creative Management and attorneys Larry Weinberg and Robert Fyvolent on behalf of the filmmakers.  Berman, O’Nan, and Ritter are represented by International Creative Management.  International rights are being represented by Eric Christenson of Hollywood Studios International, with the film screening this week at the European Film Market.

If a tree falls in the forest, does it win an Oscar? / February 2nd, 2012

Greetings all,

For those of you who haven’t heard, we’re very happy to share the news that
our beloved film IF A TREE FALLS: A STORY OF THE EARTH LIBERATION FRONT has
been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, making
it the 874th Oscar nomination in our company’s short history (we know, it
sounds strange, but somehow the math works, trust us).

With the nomination, IF A TREE FALLS will be returning for a handful of
special engagements at theaters around the country, so be sure to catch a
screening if there’s one coming up in your town.

You can find upcoming theatrical dates here:

And the trailer here:

Given IF A TREE FALLS’ timeliness due the current Occupy Wall Street
movement, we think the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is pretty
spot on to honor the film with a nomination.

Hey AMPAS, it’d be even cooler if it won!

Be sure to root for us at the big show on February 26th!

Sincerely,
Oscilloscope Laboratories

CIRCLE OF TRUST SUBSCRIPTION PRICE DROP – NOW ONLY $99 / October 27th, 2011

Fellow Americans,

We’re happy to announce that, effective immediately, the cost of membership to our CIRCLE OF TRUST (COT) subscription program will be lowered to $99 from the previous $150.

Due to advanced manufacturing processes (including the erection of a state-of-the-art, zero-emissions package producing facility in Tennessee), we feel that the decision to lower our subscription price is simply a “no-brainer.”

Elaborating on the price drop, our Highly Esteemed Oscilloscope Subscription Overseers Committee chairperson Bruce Farnsworth said, “In a time when Gray’s Papaya is raising prices on their ‘Recession Special,’ we felt we had to take the lead and do what was right. With our newfound ability to cut manufacturing costs while maintaining the same level of quality control and keeping production domestic, it just made sense to pass those savings along to the consumer or their friends. The holidays are coming up. I’m just sayin’.”

Oscilloscope’s Circle of Trust subscription is an exclusive membership-based group open to anyone. Members receive:
– The next ten (10) Oscilloscope Blu-ray or DVD releases at their home, one week before availability in stores.
– Access to the entire Oscilloscope back catalog at discounted prices.
– Exclusive invitations to special COT screening events and select Big Time Actor Movie Premieres.
– Additional complimentary bonuses have included recommended books, patented O-Scope pocket protectors, stickers, “Country Classics” collectible trading cards, and other stuff we’ve found in the laboratory.

*Current COT subscribers who have paid the initial fee will have their membership extended by five (5) DVDs automatically.
