LOVE, DEATH, FIRE-BREATHING CARS, AND WHISKEY WATER FOUNTAINS coming to theaters via O-Scope / January 31st, 2011

This past week, a movie called BELLFLOWER – a pre-apocalyptic love story with a post-apocalyptic sensibility – premiered at Sundance.  The young director Evan Glodell also wrote, produced, starred in, and edited the film while constructing its cameras, flamethrowers, and MAD MAX-styled muscle cars in his garage.  Seriously.

We have a lot to learn from Evan and we’re very excited to be able to bring you his film this summer.

Your bearer of good tidings as always,

The Circle of Trust Screening Series / January 18th, 2011

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

With the arrival of a new year comes the dawning of a new age for both mankind and Oscilloscope Laboratories (we’re one year closer to finishing our time machine).

It is with great pleasure that we announce our latest endeavor, the Oscilloscope Circle of Trust Screening Series.

As the Circle of Trust graces subscribers with the ten newest Oscilloscope Blu-Ray and DVD releases straight to your home entertainment system, the Circle of Trust Screening Series will curate both O-Scope classics and pre-release films to a select and growing number of the country’s finest venues.

These screenings will be open to the public, but Circle of Trust members will receive various perks, whether it be early invitations, free admission, complimentary refreshments, reserved seating, or a grab bag of mysterious goodies (dependent on the venue). Basically, you’ll get the hook up.

The latest Circle of Trust Screening Series will take place on January 23rd at 7pm at the Ace Hotel in NYC. It will be a screening of TELL THEM ANYTHING YOU WANT: A PORTRAIT OF MAURICE SENDAK with a Q&A with our friends Spike Jonze and Lance Bangs to follow. This is the first of six films currently slated for the Circle of Trust Screening Series at the Ace Hotel.

Admission is free, first-come-first-served, and 21+.

For those of you not based in New York, the Circle of Trust Screening Series will soon be expanding to Boston, Denver, Chicago, Portland (with the Ace) and perhaps the Moon (NASA permits pending). Stay tuned for information regarding upcoming Circle of Trust Screening Series events.

Sincerely,
Bruce Farnsworth

THINGS JUST GOT A LITTLE DARKER AT O-SCOPE… / January 18th, 2011

We just picked up our friend Marc Singer’s doc DARK DAYS for a theatrical re-release this summer, followed by an extras-laden double-disc DVD and digital platform launch.

The film is a portrait of a homeless community thriving in NYC’s underground train tunnels in the 90s. It premiered at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival and won three awards there. And DJ Shadow made a great score for the film.

Singer personally told us that if we didn’t release the film, he was gonna shelve it, which seemed a shame.
