News From The Lab / June 8th, 2012

Hey folks,

Like really industrious elves, your friends at Oscilloscope Laboratories have been busy at work on some exciting new projects!

There are four main points of business we’d like to share with you:

I.  SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS Tickets & Contest

Starting today, tickets are now available online (for most theaters) for our upcoming release of SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS.  Chronicling the 72 hours surrounding the Madison Square Garden farewell concert of the much-loved band LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, the film will show on July 18th for one night only in theaters around the country.  We’ll continue adding theaters to this list for the 18th, so if your city’s missing from the list, “shut up and demand it!”

For a full list of theaters, links to purchase tickets, or to demand a screening in your town:

Additionally, we’ve teamed up with SUAPTH executive producers THE CREATORS PROJECT to offer an awesome contest in conjunction with the film.  Just tell us your favorite LCD memory or moment (be it a photo, video, a piece of writing, or something more creative…) and you could win round trip airfare for you and a friend to New York City to attend the SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS premiere and after-party, as well as 2 nights at the Ace Hotel, a meet and greet with James Murphy himself, and a ton of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM and Oscilloscope swag.

Hit the link to enter or for more info.  Hurry up.  Not much time:

II.  New Acquisitions: REALITY and TCHOUPITOULAS

In other exciting news, we recently acquired REALITY, the Grand Prix-winner from last month’s Cannes Film Festival.  A darkly comic critique of our obsession with celebrity, REALITY is directed by Matteo Garrone (2008’s GOMORRAH) and will hit theaters in early 2013.

We also just picked up TCHOUPITOULAS (we know how to say it, but we’re still learning how to spell it), the highly acclaimed doc that premiered at SXSW and has since begun the process of collecting  awards at mulitple festivals (Hot Docs, Dallas, Ashland, and more).  Documenting three adolescent brothers’ night out in vibrant New Orleans, the film was made by Bill and Turner Ross (the directors of 45365) and the producers of BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD.

III.  New Releases:  WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN on Blu-ray/DVD; FOUR LOVERS on DVD; Circle of Trust

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (starring Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, and Ezra Miller) is now out on Blu-ray and DVD.  It’s also available for download via most digital retailers and on demand.  Get it while it’s hot!

Our next DVD release, Antony Cordier’s FOUR LOVERS, will be in stores on June 19th.

Looking for a kick-butt Father’s Day gift?  Don’t want to miss a single Oscilloscope release?  Sign up for the Circle of Trust Subscription Service and get our next ten Blu-ray or DVD releases in your mailbox at least one week before street date, along with discounts on back catalog movies, free Stream-O-Vision streams, and a whole slew of perks and goodies.

It’s only $99 – quite a steal, if we say so ourselves.
